Association of Cyber Forensics and Threat Investigators (ACFTI)
The Association of Cyber Forensics and Threat Investigators (ACFTI) is an ambitious, non-profit technical organisation focusing on the academics and research of cybersecurity, digital forensics, incident response, and threat investigations and their influence to the society. ACFTI started in 2016 as an initiative dedicated to promoting all areas of cybersecurity, digital forensics, incident response, and threat investigations, but efforts were systematically consolidated in 2020 to report new developments and latest proven methodologies, and to publish scholarly research presenting the current research issues and advances in the mentioned areas.
The aim of ACFTI is promoting and supporting cybersecurity, digital forensics, incident response, and threat investigations activities in compliance with applicable laws, and creating a community for the exchange of knowledge between specialists, academic and corporate environment in the United Kingdom and the United States, a community which has to adhere to the following values:
Continuous investment in their education;
Openness to new methods to secure information;
Involvement in combating the cyber-crime phenomenon;
Focus on facts;
Concern for excellence.
The vision of the Association is to promote research and education in cybersecurity, digital forensics, incident response, and threat investigations fields and to contribute to the creation and dissemination of knowledge and technology in this domain. ACFTI plans to have a strong representation at the national level, bringing together professors and researchers from top UK and US universities and institutions, Ph.D., masters, and BSc students, as well as companies from the ICT segment.
ACFTI insists that any company, organisation, or community should have an early investment in cybersecurity in order to prevent cyber-threats when their systems are connected to the Internet.
ACFTI has just started the process of organising international conferences jointly with universities. This comes as a direct result of the ever-growing levels of understanding and confidence between ACFTI and the academic community.
ACFTI supports the Journal of Cyber Forensics and Advanced Threat Investigations, cybersecurity-related conferences, and a mailing list server in support of the journal, conferences, and other issues relating to cybersecurity, digital forensics, incident response, and threat investigations.
ACFTI supports other organisations, conferences and journals. Cooperation and communications between the ACFTI and others regarding timing, promotion, and venue to maximise the effectiveness of events and other offerings.
ACFTI has just started getting involved in international joint research projects. Additionally, ACFTI is involved in well-established training programs, that are aimed at increasing technical awareness among young professionals in a wide scope of cybersecurity, and cyber forensics fields.
